Quepos & Manuel Antonio
Dining
and Nightlife
Several
kinds of pizza and a surprisingly light lasagna are on the
menu at Hotel Plinio's main restaurant, just out of Quepos
on the road to Manuel Antonio. They also have German and Costa
Rican dishes, in addition to seafood specials and a well-stocked
bar. The poolside Tiki Bar has everything from hamburgers
to seafood and Southeast Asian specialties, serves breakfast
and lunch until four in the afternoon.
Beef-eaters
will keep riding farther up the hill for a giant juicy
steak at the Barba Roja restaurant,
which also has good hamburgers, other American-style
selections, and excellent desserts. The bar stays open
later than the kitchen and is one of the preferred gathering
places for locals. One of the oldest restaurants in
Manuel Antonio, the Barba Roja has great view of ocean
below its breezy, open-air dining room.
Marlintini's
is a premiere restaurant here in beautiful Manuel Antonio.
The menu created by renowned chef Arthur Lambert will
tantalize your taste buds. Marlintini's restaurant features
the freshest in Seafood Offerings prepared in so many
ways with tropical fruit salsas butter compounds that
take the best of ingredients to enhance your taste buds.
The Restaurant offer the most impressive selection of
meats in the area, try the boursin stuffed Filet Mignon.
Bambu
Jam Restaurant located at Hotel Mirador del Pacifico
on the Manuel Antonio road present, every Friday, Live
Music featuring some of the hottest bands from the San
Jose scene.
Nearby,
the popular open-air restaurant/bar Karola's
serves Mexican, seafood and vegetarian specialties on stone
tables under the starry sky.
A recommended place for steaks is the Restaurant Jardín
Gourmet at the Hotel Eclipse, which is also a romantic place
to wine and dine on gourmet Italian, French and Mediterranean
cuisine.
The Sunset
Grill at the Hotel California offers the finest International
Cuisine in Manuel Antonio with a spetacular tropic setting
and a beautiful view.
Cantina
Salsipuedes, across the street from Promerica Bank has great
prices on "bocas" that you can make into meals with
an incredible ocean view.
The
Makanda Sunspot offers lunch and dinner menus which will delight
even the most sophisticated palates.
Le Papillon
- La Mariposa, about half-way to Manuel Antonio from town,
also serves French cuisine. The hill-top restaurant, with
its spectacular view of the national park and coastline below,
is one of the best spots around for watching the sun sink
into the Pacific ocean.
El Mono
Azul Restaurant on the road to Manuel Antonio has great pizza
-and will deliver to area hotels. Further down the road, Pickles
Deli serves great submarine and vegetarian sandwiches, salads,
bagels, fresh squeezed orange juice and fruit smoothies.
Karahe's
Restaurant, with a dramatic ocean-view backdrop near Playa
La Mancha, is the place to go for a sunset meal or after-dinner
drinks.
Villas
El Parque recently added rooftop seating that provides a panoramic
view of the ocean and jungle-covered hillsides that were home
to the Queipo tribe. Other inspirational locations for a breathtaking
sunset and fresh seafood are the Marlin, Del Mar and Mar
y Sombra restaurants on Playa Espadilla. The breezy beachfront
Mar y Sombra is the oldest restaurant in Manuel Antonio. The
Costa Rican-run kitchen serves fresh, reasonably priced seafood,
has dances on the weekends during summer.
The
Official Quepos Pub Crawl
The X-games
of drinking take place day and night in a smattering
of downtown bars, which also offer an assortment of
dining options as well as the perfect stage for a pub
crawl. The most practical starting point for a pub crawl
is Dos Locos, because the open-air bar's vivid green
and yellow colors make it easy for everyone to find.
After a beer or Guaro Sour, you can walk toward the
ocean to Bar Central (recently air-conditioned) for
the next drink. Around the block to the right are El
Gran Escape and the Banco Bar. Formerly a real bank,
the Banco Bar is the most spacious pub in town. Real
Tex-Mex food (the owner is from Austin, Texas) and rotisserie
barbecue chicken are the culinary stand-outs, and the
Banco offers live music and all major sports events
(Dos Locos and the Grand Escape are other popular places
to watch the games). By now, everyone in the pub crawl
should have polished off a six-pack, and it's time to
start over at Dos Locos.

Are you looking for a fantastic martini? How about
some awesome food? Look no further.....Marlintini's
is the place for you!We stumbled across this little
haven while vacationing in Manual Antonio. Marlintini's
is truly a lovely gem. My friends had the Mahi Mahi
& I had a steak. The food was super & so
was the service. This restaurant is decorated with
a fantastic bar & a beautiful dining area upper
/ lower (open air).Pop by for a visit on your next
trip to Costa Rica. The martini bar list is sure
to make your taste buds water! Sandy Allen, The

| I was there in february 2007,
and the best meals and service that i had were at
the cafe agua azul. - albrindamour - |
| Gato Negro Restaurant. I would
recommend that nobody eat at this place. In 2 weeks
in Costa Rica we had only one bad experience and
it was eating here! The service was awful. I have
never been so rudely treated by anyone in any restaurant
in 45 years of my life! To wait over half an hour
while the waiter was talking on the phone and ignoring
us is unacceptable!!I emailed them about this situation
and never heard back, no apology, nothing. I will
make sure to let everyone know to stay away from
there!! - P McGahan. |
| We found a new restaurant named
"Le Menos," It was opened on Nov.1, 2008.
The location is on beach near entrance of the national
wildlife reserve. The owner, "Rafael"
is awesome and the food was great! We highly recommend
this as a place for the american palate to eat.
Large menu. Great drinks, awesome atmosphere! -
